Helping children set goals and build pathways

Humans are inherently goal-oriented. We are constantly thinking about our futures whether our future days away or our future years away. Either way, we are all thinking about where we are headed. From the time we wake up, to the time we go to bed, we are seized by our goals. We are all working to get from Point A to Point B.

According to Alfred Adler, “We cannot think, feel, will, or act without the perception of a goal.”

Goals- “Goals are any objects, experiences, or outcomes that we imagine and desire in our minds. Thus, a goal is something we want to obtain (such as an object) or attain (like an accomplishment.”

In order to help our children, increase in hope, we must help them set appropriate goals and identify roadmaps to guide their hopeful thinking. Here are some tips for helping children set goals and build pathways (waypower):

 

 

Remember, waypower is the mental energy your child needs to identify one or more effective ways to reach their goals.
